Episode 390 Shock Footage: Warrantless House-To-House Raids In Boston: “Do What We Say!”

by Mac Slavo www.shtfplan

The events of the last week were unprecedented in the history of the United States.

After Islamic terrorists detonated two improvised explosive devices at a highly populated public venue, Americans bore witness to something they’d never seen before – a complete lock down of an entire American metropolitan area that can only be described as a de facto state of martial law.

Stores were closed. Train stations weren’t running. Armored vehicles patrolled neighborhood streets. Military helicopters circled overhead. All the while police and national guard troops performed sweeps across cookie cutter homes in suburban America.

The government and local law enforcement would have us believe that all of this was executed in full compliance of the law.

While that may be true, one can’t help but ask… under which laws, exactly, were the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and local police operating?

Despite arguments to the contrary, the shocking footage below, recorded by a resident in Watertown, Massachusetts, highlights the fact that our domestic law enforcement agencies were no longer operating in a Constitutionally protected America. Rather, what you’ll see is a fully militarized, combat-ready detachment of police who are executing their orders in a war zone.

What you won’t see, however, is a warrant in the hands of law enforcement officials as they surround neighborhood homes and then force their innocent residents out at gunpoint.

In the video below we see what a police state looks like. Cops looking for a 19-year old supposed terrorist raid a house and force citizens out at gunpoint with their hands over the heads. If not for the distinctly American houses in the video, this could be Iraq or Afghanistan.

Via Infowars

Pay attention, because this is now precedent. Under the Patriot Act and the National Defense Authorization Act, anyone deemed to be acting in a manner that seeks to subvert the laws of the United States can be declared a terrorist. So, the next time a criminal is on the loose in your town, you, too, may end up getting the same treatment as the peaceful residents of Boston.

Episode 388 The Goal Is To Destroy All Constitutional Culture

by Brandon Smith www.alt-market.com

In America, our cultural method of debate tends to divide individual  issues into carefully separated spheres of discussion. This hyperfocus  on single issues, from gun rights to illegal wars to invasion of  privacy, draws us away from looking at the bigger interconnected  picture, otherwise known as the “macro.” Each social or political  conflict is compartmentalized by the mainstream, the dots are left  isolated and the overwhelming overall threat to our foundational  principles is marginalized.

The problem with this civic philosophy is that the general public is  left without peripheral vision and unequipped to comprehend that there  is a process in motion, an overarching plan that is eating away at the  edges of our liberty from every angle, one small piece at a time. That  is to say, we have been conditioned to obsess over the pieces and ignore  the plan.

I want you to imagine the globalist establishment and the useful  socialist idiots it employs as a hive of ants lurking in the grass  around a bountiful picnic basket you (or your forefathers) worked very  hard to procure. Now, one ant snatches a single crumb and races away,  and you think to yourself that losing that one crumb is not such a  sacrifice. A few more ants pilfer crumbs, and you shrug it off. A dozen  more arrive, and you start to worry a little but are still too lazy to  pull out the Raid. The rest of the hive sees your apathy and attacks,  gobbling everything in a swarm of single-minded destruction. Left with  nothing, you sit dumbfounded and hungry, wondering where you went wrong.  The truth is, you went wrong with the first ant.

Not only are personal wealth and property ransacked by the collective in this way, but also personal freedom.

Every time a smaller attack on liberty is exposed or openly announced  by the cult of statism, elitists invariably respond with a false face  of rationality and common sense. They claim that they respect the line.  They claim that they will take only the minimum. They claim that they  are pursuing only a reasonable compromise. They expound on the “virtues”  of their motives. They sing songs of unity, brotherhood and the greater  good. They appeal to our diplomatic side; and if that doesn’t work,  they try to shame us instead for being “selfish” or “ignorant” of  so-called “social progress.” But this never has been and never will be  about social progress.

Their goal is not to introduce greater understanding or awareness. It  is not about public good or public safety. And at the very core, it is not about truth. If they cared about truth or principle and if their  objectives were honorable, they would not feel the need to constantly  lie, cheat, steal, manipulate and threaten in an effort to impose their  own worldview on the rest of us. If their purpose was as righteous as  they pretend, then deceit and subversion should be beneath them. Their  philosophy should be able to carry itself, without their convoluted  efforts.

The power elites and the people who blindly follow them are not  interested in being on the right side. They are interested only in being  on the winning side, and the two are certainly not the same. In the  end, the result they covet most is not to achieve compromise on  Constitutional ideals, but to achieve total and unequivocal destruction  of those ideals. They seek to erase our heritage from history, along  with those of us who value it. They want to annihilate Constitutional  culture.

Through the efforts of the liberty movement, many Americans are now  at least loosely aware of such issues as the National Defense  Authorization Act, which allows the designation of anyone — including  American citizens — as enemy combatants subject to the laws of war, thus  destroying the Constitutional right to due process and trial by jury.  They have witnessed the vicious trampling of the 4th Amendment and our right to privacy through legislation like the Foreign  Intelligence Surveillance Act. They have been confronted with the gross  tyranny of Barack Obama’s executive assassination lists and predator  drone fetish. They are aware of the existence of Department of Defense  efforts to remove all vestiges of Posse Comitatus and allow standing  military authority in the United States through the U.S. Northern  Command (Northcom).

All of these things are clearly part of a violent war on our  Constitutional rights, but what about the more subtle poison being  introduced under the surface? The first place to look is always in your  child’s school.

In Duvall County, Fla., the father of a 10-year-old boy discovered  his son had been asked by a teacher to write and sign this statement as  part of a school project:

“I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure.”

When questioned on the purpose of directing fourth-graders to sign  such a statement, the school district argued that the students  participated in the activity of their own free will and that the lesson  was designed to “create an awareness of the five rights contained in the  First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution” and help students “determine  their opinions on which rights they value most and least.”

First of all, let’s be honest; I went through public schooling, and  anyone else who went through it knows as well as I do that almost  nothing within the public school system is treated as voluntary.  Threats, fearmongering and mob mentality are all used by State teachers  all across the country daily to manipulate and terrorize children into  submitting to the program. As a nostalgic refresher, re-examine the  incident in a North Carolina school in which a teacher screamed down a  student who criticized Obama, claiming that people “could be arrested”  for speaking ill of the President.

Secondly, if the teacher in Duvall County was looking to encourage  students to “think critically” about their Constitutional rights, then  perhaps it would have been helpful to educate them on what those rights  are. Unfortunately, the children had not been given practical lessons on  their rights before being asked to abandon them for “safety.”

This is a perfect example of the indoctrination process in action.  While the gun rights issue has brought the politicization of public  schools out in the open, with federalized education centers punishing  children across the Nation for merely playing with imaginary guns or  talking about toy guns, the real target is not the gun issue for the  establishment.  The real target is all Constitutional thought.

Perhaps this is why the methodology of home-schooling has been so  demonized by the mainstream, and why Ron Paul’s latest home-schooling  initiative is already being attacked as “Christian fundamentalism.” The  real reason the establishment’s panties are in a twist is simple; they  do not like the idea of parents being able to compose their child’s own  curriculum and, thus, remove anti-Constitutional conditioning from their  daily lives.

The erasure of Constitutional culture has spread far beyond schooling, however.

The city of New Rochelle, N.Y., has demanded a local veterans’ post  take down its Gadsden flag, a flag in existence since the Revolutionary  War, because it has been adopted as a symbol of the Tea Party. The city  council, led by Democratic Mayor Noam Bramson, voted to remove the flag  after voicing concerns about the flag’s message.

Obama sycophant and hardcore big-government mouthpiece Bill Maher  this week stated that the left (neo-liberals) needs to stop being afraid  of its true goal in the gun debate — to dissolve the 2nd Amendment — rather than play at compromise.

“I’m so sorry, but this is the problem with the gun debate — it is that it’s a constant center-right debate,” Maher said.  “There’s no left in this debate. Everyone on the left is so afraid to  say what should be said, which is the Second Amendment is bullshit. Why  doesn’t anyone go at the core of it?”

My response would be: “Yes, please do admit your true goals, gun  grabbers and opponents of civil liberties. At least be honest about your  fascist intentions so that we can stop playing games and have a real  eye to eye debate (or fight) on the subject.:

And finally, NASCAR has come under siege by anti-2nd Amendment legislators as well as the media in general for allowing the  National Rifle Association to endorse races. Senator Chris Murphy  (D-Conn.) called on broadcasters to block transmissions of the NRA 500  because it would bring national attention to gun rights while the Senate  is legislating for gun control (which, in his opinion, is bad).

Perhaps this is purely coincidental, but the timing of this stance  against NASCAR’s support of gun culture has arisen right as Oath  Keepers, a Constitutional organization dedicated to teaching current  serving military, veterans and law enforcement about civil liberties and  the affirmation of their oath, announced it is working with racecar  driver Jeffrey Earnhardt to bring an Oath Keepers-sponsored vehicle to the NASCAR track.

While some people may not care less about NASCAR or even the 2nd Amendment, I would point out that through the gun issue, the establishment is ultimately undermining the holy grail of the 1st Amendment. If gun rights speech and culture can be silenced in the name  of “safety” or “compassion,” then why not any other belief?

This problem of selective free-speech has now been exacerbated by the Boston Marathon Bombings.  Oath Keepers had planned and already received a permit for a high profile rally at Lexington Green in Massachusetts (a public venue where one should not need a permit to rally anyway), but the bombings opened the door for the Lexington Board (one member had been trying to undermine the rally from it’s inception) to revoke the event.  The excuse given was, of course, that it was for everyone’s “safety”, and that not enough police were available to secure it.  Though, a secondary event in a nearby town remains approved with little to no trouble.  The right to free speech is NOT subject to the intensity of the times, it is sacrosanct.  Period.  However, many in government today believe that they can rescind our Constitutional liberties whenever the public is distracted enough by disaster.

Incidents like these by themselves do not necessarily seem like an  imminent threat to the freedoms of average citizens; but, taken together  as a flurry of strategic movements, they represent a full spectrum  attack on the very pillars of our founding structure. Throughout  history, when conquerors wished to fully dominate a population, they  would seek to slowly subsume the people’s mythology and principles. They  would attempt to co-opt cultural ideas and values, twisting them into  something completely different or wiping them from memory altogether.  When the people lose their traditions and heritage, they become easier  to mold and rule. This is exactly what is happening in the United States  today: an ideological colonization that views Constitutional life as a  mortal enemy and hopes to obliterate it from the pages of time.

Episode 387 The Assault On Gold

by Paul Craig Roberts via alt-market.com

This article was written by Paul Craig Roberts and originally published at PaulCraigRoberts.org

For Americans, financial and economic Armageddon might be close at hand. The evidence for this conclusion is the concerted effort by the Federal Reserve and its dependent financial institutions to scare people away from gold and silver by driving down their prices.

When gold prices hit $1,917.50 an ounce on August 23, 2011, a gain of more than $500 an ounce in less than 8 months, capping a rise over a decade from $272 at the end of December 2000, the Federal Reserve panicked. With the US dollar losing value so rapidly compared to the world standard for money, the Federal Reserve’s policy of printing $1 trillion annually in order to support the impaired balance sheets of banks and to finance the federal deficit was placed in danger. Who could believe the dollar’s exchange rate in relation to other currencies when the dollar was collapsing in value in relation to gold and silver.

The Federal Reserve realized that its massive purchase of bonds in order to keep their prices high (and thus interest rates low) was threatened by the dollar’s rapid loss of value in terms of gold and silver. The Federal Reserve was concerned that large holders of US dollars, such as the central banks of China and Japan and the OPEC sovereign investment funds, might join the flight of individual investors away from the US dollar, thus ending in the fall of the dollar’s foreign exchange value and thus decline in US bond and stock prices.

Intelligent people could see that the US government could not afford the long and numerous wars that the neoconservatives were engineering or the loss of tax base and consumer income from offshoring millions of US middle class jobs for the sake of executive bonuses and shareholder capital gains. They could see what was in the cards, and began exiting the dollar for gold and silver.

Central banks are slower to act. Saudi  Arabia and the oil emirates are dependent on US protection and do not want to anger their protector. Japan is a puppet state that is careful in its relationship with its master. China wanted to hold on to the American consumer market for as long as that market existed. It was individuals who began the exit from the US dollar.

When gold topped $1,900, Washington put out the story that gold was a bubble. The presstitute media fell in line with Washington’s propaganda. “Gold looking a bit bubbly” declared CNN Money on August 23, 2011.

The Federal Reserve used its dependent “banks too big to fail” to short the precious metals markets. By selling naked shorts in the paper bullion market against the rising demand for physical possession, the Federal Reserve was able to drive the price of gold down to $1,750 and keep it more or less capped there until recently, when a concerted effort on April 2-3, 2013, drove gold down to $1,557 and silver, which had approached $50 per ounce in 2011, down to $27.

The Federal Reserve began its April Fool’s assault on gold by sending the word to brokerage houses, which quickly went out to clients, that hedge funds and other large investors were going to unload their gold positions and that clients should get out of the precious metal market prior to these sales. As this inside information was the government’s own strategy, individuals cannot be prosecuted for acting on it. By this operation, the Federal Reserve, a totally corrupt entity, was able to combine individual flight with institutional flight. Bullion prices took a big hit, and bullishness departed from the gold and silver markets. The flow of dollars into bullion, which threatened to become a torrent, was stopped.

For now it seems that the Fed has succeeded in creating wariness among Americans about the virtues of gold and silver, and thus the Federal Reserve has extended the time that it can print money to keep the house of cards standing. This time could be short or it could last a couple of years.

However, for the Russians and Chinese, whose central banks have more dollars than they any longer want, and for the 1.3 billion Indians in India, the low dollar price for gold that the Federal Reserve has engineered is an opportunity. They see the opportunity that the Federal Reserve has given them to purchase gold at $350-$400 an ounce less than two years ago as a gift.

The Federal Reserve’s attack on bullion is an act of desperation that, when widely recognized, will doom its policy.

As I have explained previously, the orchestrated move against gold and silver is to protect the exchange value of the US dollar. If bullion were not a threat, the government would not be attacking it.

The Federal Reserve is creating $1 trillion new dollars per year, but the world is moving away from the use of the dollar for international payments and, thus, as reserve currency. The result is an increase in supply and a decrease in demand. This means a falling exchange value of the dollar, domestic inflation from rising import prices, and a rising interest rate and collapsing bond, stock and real estate markets.

The Federal Reserve’s orchestration against bullion cannot ultimately succeed. It is designed to gain time for the Federal Reserve to be able to continue financing the federal budget deficit by printing money and also to keep interest rates low and debt prices high in order to support the banks’ balance sheets.

When the Federal Reserve can no longer print due to dollar decline which printing would make worse, US bank deposits and pensions could be grabbed in order to finance the federal budget deficit for couple of more years. Anything to stave off the final catastrophe.

The manipulation of the bullion market is illegal, but as government is doing it the law will not be enforced.

By its obvious and concerted attack on gold and silver, the US government could not give any clearer warning that trouble is approaching. The values of the dollar and of financial assets denominated in dollars are in doubt.

Those who believe in government and those who believe in deregulation will be proved equally wrong. The United States of America is past its zenith. As I predicted early in the 21st century, in 20 years the US will be a third world country. We are halfway there.

Episode 385 How North Korea Could Destroy The United States

from www.investors.com

National Security: The administration moves an advanced  missile defense system to Guam because it knows a single low-yield nuke  detonated at high altitude could send America back in time a hundred years.

The announcement Wednesday by the Defense Department that it would soon  deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System (THAAD), a missile defense  system inherited from the Bush administration, to Guam underscores the  seriousness of the threat from North Korea, whose actions, Defense Secretary  Chuck Hagel rightly said, “present a real and clear danger.”

This move comes after the Obama administration reversed its previous  scuttling of Bush administration plans to increase our ground-based interceptor  force in Alaska and the deployment of two destroyers equipped with Aegis missile  defense systems, the Decatur and the John McCain, to the region.

Some observers dismissed it as familiar bluster when North Korea’s  28-year-old raging runt, Kim Jong-un, signed an order for North Korea’s  strategic rocket forces to be on standby to fire at U.S. targets in front of a  map that included Austin, Texas, as a target.

But other observers are concerned that a specific target may not be what the  possibly imploding North Korean regime may have in mind.

The three-stage missile North Korea launched last December that also orbited  a “package,” which experts say could be a test to orbit a nuclear weapon that  then would be de-orbited on command anywhere over the U.S. and exploded at a  high altitude, releasing an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). That would fry  electronic circuitry and the nation’s power grid.

This concern recently has been reinforced by a little-publicized study  released in May 2011, titled “In the Dark: Military Planning for a Catastrophic  Critical Infrastructure Event,” by the U.S. Army War College that said a nuclear  detonation at altitude above a U.S. city could wipe out the electrical grid for  hundreds, possibly thousands, of miles around.

The satellite launched by Pyongyang coincided with a third round of nuclear  tests described as a “nuclear test of a higher level,” most likely referring to  a device made from highly enriched uranium, which is easier to miniaturize than  the plutonium bombs North Korea tested in 2006 and 2009, said Cheong  Seong-chang, an analyst at the private Sejong Institute in South Korea.

Such an EMP device would not have to be particularly high yield. It would not  be designed to create a big explosion, but to convert its energy into gamma  rays, that generate the EMP effect.

Any nuclear weapon detonated above an altitude of 30 kilometers will generate  an electromagnetic pulse that will destroy electronics and could collapse the  electric power grid and other critical infrastructures — communications,  transportation, banking and finance, food and water — that sustain modern  civilization and the lives of 300 million Americans.

As the Heritage Foundation reports, an EMP attack with a warhead detonated  warhead 25 to 300 miles above the U.S. mainland “would fundamentally change the  world. Airplanes would fall from the sky; most cars would be inoperable;  electrical devices would fail. Water, sewer and electrical networks would fail  simultaneously. Systems of banking, energy, transportation, food production and  delivery, water, emergency services, and even cyberspace would collapse.”

Nobody is harmed or killed immediately by the blast. But life in the U.S.,  the world’s only superpower and the world’s largest economy, would come to a  screeching halt as a country dependent on cutting-edge 21st century technology  regresses in time almost a century instantaneously.

Thankfully, the Obama administration seems to be taking the North Korean  threat seriously.

Even more thankfully, it has those “billion-dollar destroyers,” alleged “Cold  War” relics like the B-2 and “Star Wars” weapons like THAAD developed by prior  presidential administrations to rely on.

Episode 384 Report: “Intelligence Says There Will Be An Attack on American Soil”

 by Mac Slavo www.shtfplan.com

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula are heating up, with rhetoric from the North Koreans suggesting that an attack of some kind is being planned. This isn’t the first time the North Koreans have made threats against western powers and their southern neighbor, but the level of American response is unprecedented. The United States and our allies have re-positioned Naval battle groups, deployed Aegis missile defense systems, and a host of other technology to counter-act any potential threat.

Military analysts have already warned about the possibility of North Korea exploding a high altitude nuclear device high above the continental United States using a “Super EMP” weapon capable of disabling the power grid in the lower 48 states. The North Korean space launch vehicle, a ‘weather’ satellite put into space in December of 2012 and carrying an unknown payload, will be passing over the geographic heart of the United States on April 10th. Curiously, the 10th is the same day that North Korean officials warned they would no longer be able to provide protection for foreign embassy officials in Pyongyang.

Moreover, the North Koreans are said to have mobilized some of their long-range missiles, and communications intercepted by Western intelligence agencies reportedly indicate that a planned launch of their KN-08 intercontinental ballistic missile is imminent.

The situation has become so serious that the Japanese military was given the order to shoot down any missile launched from the North, no matter if it is a test.

Reports that China has mobilized tens of thousands of troops on their border with North Korea and has put their military on its highest alert level also don’t bode well for peaceful resolution. The Chinese seem to be positioning their military to either counter North Korea’s military, turn back refugees who  may attempt to escape to China should war break out, or, as has been suggested by some analysts, to aid the North Koreans should Allied ground forces invade.

Mainstream news coverage indicates that something is about to go down.

And, slowly but surely, reports from military personnel and contractors on military bases are starting to leak, and some of them indicate that the United States is preparing for serious confrontation.

They are gearing up for something big via Steve Quayle:

I just spoke with a close associate who has been working for the last three years at Barksdale Air Force Base, on various construction projects… This man is just a guy…a construction worker…been there all his life…salt of the earth kind of guy. In his words…”I am just a working man…doing the best I can do.”

Tonight, he called to let me know that the security and activity at Barksdale has been stepped up in his words, “by 300%”.

I asked as many questions as I felt that I could and took notes so that I could simply use his quotes to accurately report what he has stated.

“We were working on a scheduled job in the munitions dump area…building new blast walls, when AF personnel came in and told us we had to leave right now. We asked if were being given a “work stoppage order.” They replied “Get out now.” and escorted us out. “More like they rushed us out.”

On April 1, AF Chief of Staff and a bunch of other DoD dignitaries flew in to Barksdale. Those coming on the base usually have a sidearm and maybe a rifle, but since the 1st, “dignitaries are also wearing flak jackets.”

“They are gearing up for something big.”

“They are bringing in serious junk.”

“Moving in warheads…I was working in an area where cruise missles are brought in, put together, armed, and shipped out.”

His exact words were, “They are shipping some serious s*** over there.”

(Here I tried to ascertain whether these were going on ships or planes.)

He replied that “they are going everywhere.”

He also stated that “they dropped a bunch dummy bombs on some islands off the coast of North Korea”..(I just read a confirmation of that from an intelligence newsletter, and confirmed by WND an hour ago.)

I asked him if Chinese officers were still on base. He replied that he had not been working in the area in which he first saw them, for the last three weeks, but he did say this…

“The Chinese and the Russians are here…let me put it this way…everybody in the UN plus a few more are in here. (U.S.)”

He heard and directly quoted one officer referring to the testing of anti-ballistic missile defense system, “We are going to see a real test, now.” He then said that he heard “Intelligence says there will be an attack on American soil.”

He then stated that these defense missile systems were ” being shipped to several bases.”

(Full Article)

Our sources report that military personnel at the largest Army base in the country have been instructed by military leaders to have their bags packed in the event that the situation goes hot. Troops have reportedly been told to have their financial affairs and family matters in order. Likewise, in the United Kingdom, some personnel have been asked to be prepared to deploy, as well as several who were deployed (location unknown) without warning over the course of the last week.

All signs point to a military confrontation.

Whether North Korea will start this, or whether Western allies are finally going to preemptively initiate regime change in the North is anyone’s guess.

There is also the possibility of a ‘false-flag’ event designed to completely upend the global economic and political paradigms, a scenario recently suggested by Kurt Nimmo of Infowars.com:

The Federal Reserve plan to crash the economy and make room for world government and an authoritarian globalist economic and accompanying police state control system will necessitate a sufficient prerequisite – and that prerequisite may very well be a new war on the Korean peninsula.

Economic depressions are highly scripted affairs and the banksters use them to initiate big wars – not only because wars are remarkably profitable for the military-industrial complex, but because they serve as an ideal tool for wealth consolidation and fire sales held in their aftermath. Big wars are also exploited to enforce rigid discipline on the masses. It gives the plebs an excuse to accept grinding poverty and servitude. (Read full article)

To even consider the possibility of global war, or a large-scale attack on the continental United States, is a difficult notion for many to stomach.

However, members of elite banking conglomerates, the military industrial complex, and political power structures stand to benefit greatly should a war break out.

There are Trillions of dollars at play.

War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

Smedley D. Butler
United States Marine Corps Major General
Two Time Medal of Honor Recipient

Though we hope that this is nothing more than posturing by North Korea and/or the United States, crazy things have happened throughout history, with some of history’s most horrific events stemming from seemingly unimportant or impossible-to-occur scenarios.

This is an alert and a recap for those concerned with the possibility that things could take a turn for the worse overnight.

Be vigilant. Be prepared.

Episode 383 Being an “Alpha Prepper”

by Mark S. Mann via www.sgtreport.com

by Mark S. Mann,

Hello Friends,
It’s been a while since I have written anything. Things have been super busy in the firearms industry, and I am just coming off the 2013 trade show season. Lots of interesting things have been going on. In spite of everything that is happening, both foreseen and unforeseen, I have always come back to a book that changed my views on life: “The Alpha Strategy” by John Pugsley, published in 1980. After 31 years in circulation The Alpha Strategy is considered a standard reference on stocking up on food and household goods as a hedge against inflation. The basic premise of “The Alpha Strategy” is that purchasing and stock piling goods and commodities that you and your family use every single day will save you money in the long run, as these items are sure to go up in price in the future. Anyone that goes to the grocery store every week knows what I am talking about. Prices keep going up all the time. This is especially relevant today, in an environment where banks are paying out almost zero interest, and where you may incur significant risks as a depositor.

There are many people in the survivalist / “prepper” community that have referenced this book over the years. Although I don’t really consider myself a “prepper”, I am preparing for hyper-inflation, the devaluation of the US Dollar, and a drastic reduction in the purchasing power of our currency. I don’t think that is a far- fetched scenario. I have been thinking about writing this article for some time, and what motivated me to finish it was the recent dip in Gold and Silver prices. First, I want to say that I am a true believer in honest money, specifically gold and silver.

I have been buying as much as I can afford of both since early 2008. My main investment strategy on metals has been dollar cost averaging. However, the last 5-6 months, I have been enraged more than ever by the obvious criminal manipulation in the metals markets. I know the principals have not changed, I know I am not trying to trade gold and silver contracts or futures, I know I am invested in metals for the long term, I know the fundamentals of the market have not changed, I know the “powers that be” can’t keep playing this game forever, blah, blah, blah. Either way, I am tired of buying, only for the price to go down days or weeks later. I am sure some of you are feeling the same way I have, although I don’t plan on selling anything regardless of what the prices are, high or low. I am 40 years old, and I view my metals investment as my own personal retirement plan. I have 25 years or more before I plan on selling, and the way the world financial markets are looking, time is on my side.

With that said, I am changing my personal strategy a little, leaning toward being more “Alpha”. If you are one of those people that really believe that the current financial system will collapse, and that the US Dollar will ultimately be drastically reduced in its purchasing power, gold and silver may not be the only thing saves you from those who seek to destroy your wealth. After all, gold and silver ARE MONEY, and we work for money and use money as a medium of exchange to purchase those things and we need, use, and consume on a daily basis.

I believe that the purchasing power that currently enjoy in the US Dollar will never be higher than it is, right now. If you also believe this, than why not acquire as many of the things that you realistically need now, when you can get the most bang for your buck? You are going to use and consume those items anyway, so why not? Imagine you lived in Cypress right now. If you had several months of food, and the necessity items you shop for weekly or monthly stocked in your home, you would be in much better shape than most people. You would be a lot more comfortable, and a lot less stressed out given the current situation. After all… the sum of all the cash, gold, and silver in the world will not buy the last bit of food and clean water.

Am I suggesting you should not buy any more gold and silver? No. I am simply suggesting that you diversify your investment strategy and secure commodities and goods that you are sure to use every day regardless of what the price of gold and silver is. If you buy a pair of boots for $200 today, or spend the same money on Silver American Eagles, you don’t look at the boots as ever having lost value, which may or may not happen with the silver. People say that they can always use their silver to buy the boots in the future, and that the same boots will cost less in silver when the price ultimately goes up. That is highly speculative, but one thing is certain, and that is you will need good shoes for the rest of your life. When silver was at almost $50 / oz. did you ever think it would go back below $27 like it did today? I did not.

It’s not just about the value of the commodities and goods, or the future value of the fiat currency or precious metals. Global supply chain s and logistics for manufacturing goods are longer, more complicated, and more fragile than ever before in history. Let’s look at this from another prospective: What about things like underwear and socks? You will use these for the rest of life. If you purchased a new pair of underwear or socks during the Great Depression, let’s say in 1933, the odds are that the cotton those underwear were produced with was grown in Georgia or Alabama, and that cotton was shipped to a textile mill somewhere in the USA and made into underwear, which was then shipped to a warehouse, and then shipped to a retailer in your area. All of this took place in the scope of several hundred miles at most. Today, in 2013, that cotton is probably grown in one country, the garment is produced in another, and the finished product is probably shipped several times before it gets to the shelf you buy it off. How will all of this take place if the dollar collapse happens, and / or if the World is at war as a result? Simple answer, it will not happen, and I doubt the cost will be the same as it is today regardless. So, what benefits your life more: Purchasing (10) new pairs of underwear stocked away for future use, or purchasing (2) more silver coins today?

I don’t know that there is a right or wrong answer to the question, but I am trying to get you to think about these things in a different way. You have to exchange cash for goods and services that you consume every day. How would you do that with gold or silver if the crash happened tomorrow? What retailer or service provider is set up to accept gold or silver as a medium of exchange? Do you think that the guy working the pump at the gas station is going to accept silver coins for 30 times the face value? Do you think you will win the argument that a 1964 US Quarter is worth $4.25 and that a 1965 quarter is worth $0.25? I don’t think it will go your way. Most people in our society don’t even know what an ounce of silver is worth. Remember that less than 2% of the population own physical precious metals.

I am not saying not to invest in precious metals. I am saying that there are things that you can invest in that you will use every single day, and those items will probably never cost less than they do today. If you had a year’s supply of toilet paper in your basement, versus another roll of silver coins in your safe, I think you might appreciate the TP more if it came down to a Cypress situation, or possibly an even worse scenario. Here are some examples of things that you can get “Alpha” on:

Clothing: You can’t do this for everyone in your family, but you can do it for yourself, or anyone that has stopped growing, and anyone who does not need to lose more than 1 size if they are overweight. Current supply chain is totally and completely dependent on cheap imports and what is on the shelf. Like anything else, clothing is a finished product, which needs raw materials, labor, shipping, and logistics to reach an end user. Clothing is also happens to be one of the 3 basic necessities.

Shoes & Footwear: Boots and athletic shoes, dress shoes, ect. Never underestimate the value and importance of quality footwear.

Underwear & Socks: These are everyday basic items, which wear out faster than everything else. You will use these for the rest of your life.

Good Quality Blankets & Sleeping Bags: Always a must for everyone in your family + a little extra for people who live anyplace where the climate requires as a basic necessity.

Practical Food Storage: By practical, I mean realistic. I know people who are “Preppers” and they are buying bulk items like wheat and grains. Some of these people can’t cook a meal under ideal conditions. They are not going to make their own bread during a crisis. Store food items that you actually use often, or every day. Canned goods last at least 2-3 years. It’s not just about buying stuff to prepare for the end of the world. This saves you money in the long run no matter what, unless that is you don’t plan on eating.

Cosmetics & Personal Hygiene: Personal grooming is a necessary part of staying healthy. This is even more important in bad times when outside help or resources may be unavailable. Toothpaste, mouth wash, toilet paper, dental floss, tooth brushes, shaving cream, deodorant, ect, ect. You use these items every day. Without them, you will be very uncomfortable, and other people will be uncomfortable around you. Staying healthy, clean, and comfortable is vital to your moral when dealing with any prolonged crisis or survival situation. The better you’re physical and mental state, the longer you can endure a hardship or crisis situation, the longer you will survive.

As always, thanks for reading and listening! I hope that you are all well and wide awake.

Best Wishes & Stay Safe!

Episode 382 The Chart That Will Crash The Market: “We Have Reached the Terminus”

by Karl Denninger via www.shtfplan.com

The screeching coming from CNBS and elsewhere this morning is amusing.

There’s only one chart that matters, and it will, when recognized, blow up the stock market — sending it down 50% or more.

It’s this one:

Employment Rate of the US Population

That’s it.  And the ADP report this morning is showing the pathway to recognition, as construction has stalled and the destruction of job creation in small and mid-sized businesses exposed to Obamacare will finish it off.

I continue to maintain that we’re in a time very similar to 2007, when the facts were on the table.  Banks paying dividends with money they didn’t have.  Hedge funds that blow.  Bubbles in crazy places, then housing, this time in subprime car lending, student loans and even Bitcon.

The transports are telling you that all is not well.  CAT is confirming it.  Copper is warning that we’re in deep trouble internationally, and irrespective of the claim that “America benefits from everyone else’s pain” that’s only partially true – in the end earnings are what drive stock prices, and the red flags are waving at warp speed on earnings.

To go along with this are rail car loadings.  The trouble here is that baseline is in a serious downtrend — and after halting its decline from 2008 to 2009 over the last year it has slid severely once more.  There will be those who argue that this is “no big deal”; I disagree.

At the end of the day the premise behind the Fed’s intervention in the market is that “cheap money” promotes hiring through an indirect process.  But inherent in that process is a belief that the economic model from 1980 to 2007 can be restarted – a model predicated on ever-larger amounts of leverage in the economy.  That model had positive feedback that came from the bond market rally from 1980 to 2008 as well with yield compression helping to fuel the fire.

More than five years into this experiment the results are clear: It doesn’t work.

I believe that by the time we get to the end of the year we will be looking back at these signs and asking “what the hell was I thinking?”

Credit expansion is not going to restart because it can’t — we have reached the terminus of that economic model, like it or not.
